Dear Mummy,

Next Wednesday, November the 29th, our school is performing a play called "Freddys First Day" at NBC".
It starts at 1.15pm or there's another one at 5pm.
The play is about 5 years old Freddy and his sort of friends the "Virtue Angels".
He is accompanied by his buddy "Wally" who shows Freddy around the school.
Thank you for reading this letter and I hope to see you there.
I'm on the computer which does the slideshow.

Your Kid,

Giorgio

My Big Adventure part 3

After we went to Italy we stayed in Munich with my great ant and uncle, Uta and Fritz.
We were there for 3 days. We did lots of site seeing in Munich. The first thing we visited was the Rathaus. A Rathaus is a town hall. The town hall in Munich is a really popular site because it has a Glockenspiel.
The glockenspiel tells a story with life size figures made out of ceramic.
On the top there were jesters and the king and queen sitting on their thrones.
At the end two knights on horses come and battle, one falls off and the other one wins.
The one that wins is from Bavaria because Munich is in Bavaria

Next was my favourite which was the famous Hofbräuhaus where me, my mums and Uta went and got lunch.
I got a massive Apfelschorle which is really good German fizzy apple juice.
The Hofbräuhaus was  built in 1589 and is one of the oldest beer halls and breweries in the world. It has 100 waiters and waitresses serving 30,000 people on a busy day.
I really enjoyed the 'Blaskapelle' which is the German name for a brass band. The band plays in the restaurant. They also wear lederhosen which are leather pants.
My food was super good because they make the best meat dish called 'Schnitzel' and I even like the salad. All the food we have here is super good.

Once our tummys were full with delicious food we headed off to Nymphenburg Palace.
If you don't know what it is; it is a palace built in Munich, Germany.

It was commissioned by Ferdinand Maria and Henriette of Savoy and built in 1664 and completed in 1675.
Nymphenburg Palace is a major tourist attraction with a museum,a shop,a ballroom, and lots of other stuff.
Its cool how all around the palace there's a massive garden with connecting rivers and streams through it.We saw the carriages the King used and they were golden and designed with angels and all sorts of things. They also had sleds and when you walked past them you could hear the ringing of the bells the horses wore.
There are lots of pumping stations so even though the rivers connect the water still moves in a particular direction.
The royal family needed these not just for design but to get around in little paddle boats.
The rivers lead into one big one and it goes right through  onto the city.
I thought its really cool because in winter it freezes so you can ice-skate up and down on it.

We are back at my grandfather's house now and I have been putting food in a box on a tree for the squirrels.

My Big Adventure part 2

My Big Adventure part 2 (Frankfurt/Berlin)

We arrived in Frankfurt at 6 am German time after flying all through the night for 12 hours, it was midnight when we left Singapore so somehow we lost 6 hours. Then we had to wait about 30 minutes before we were allowed to go through Customs.

As soon as I got through I saw my Opa and he bought me a bretzel. This is like a pretzel but made of bread and much bigger and very popular here.  We drove for 2 hours to his house which is massive. His Opa built it and Opa has lived there all his life. I stayed in my mama's old room from when she was a child. Later that day we drove to Stuttgart and went to my aunt Luisa's birthday party in a biergarten and I played soccer with my cousin Lorenz and his friends in the park. Biergarten means beer garden but it is nicer than that sounds, it is like a nice restaurant in a garden.

My Opa lives in Mulucker with a population of 25,640 people.
I stayed at my Opa's house for a few days. I saw squirrels and put food for them in boxes nailed to the trees in his garden. I could see some dirt patches in the lawn which Opa told me were made by Maulwurf which is German for moles. He said he had only seen one in his whole life so not much chance I will see one in the garden. I did see one in the Berlin Zoo.

I went to Berlin by train. It took 6 hours and at first we had to sit on the floor which was a bit surprising but then we got seats. There is a dining car on the train and the food is nice. I noticed that most people have new cars which are still nice and shiny unlike new zealand. In fact I saw two lamborghinis while I was there. Most people actually get around by tram or train.

I learnt that Berlin is the capital city of Germany. I went to some museums and saw the memorial for the Jews which remembers the 6 million murders of Jews. I also learnt that Berlin has more museums than rainy days. One museum had the largest dinosaur ever found.

My favourite fact is that the ring road of Berlin is in the shape of the head of a basset hound. Germans really like dogs. They even take them into restaurants and trains. all the ones I saw were well behaved.

After Berlin we caught three trains and one bus to Freiburg which is way down in the south of Germany. The trip took seven and a half hours. Once we arrived we went to Wilhelmstrasse where my grandma lives. Today I went to a cathedral called the Munster which is really really old and I played with my little awesome cousin Isla. Isla doesn't speak english so I had to try and work out what he was saying. Since I only know a bit of German I want to learn some more so next time I can actually understand him and not just say yes or no randomly.

My big adventure part 1

My big adventure to Europe

Part One (Singapore)

On Thursday the 7th September I started a big journey with my parents to Europe to spend time with family in Germany. This is the story of my trip.
On Thursday morning I caught a plane to Singapore to break up the big trip. The flight took 10 hours and I was able to watch a heap of movies including Fate of the Furious, Baywatch, Family Guy, Pirates of the Caribbean and a bit of Tom and Jerry.
Everyone had their own movie screen and we got served really nice lunch and dinner.
When we arrived we had to go through Customs.
We had to walk through by putting our passports in a scanner and our thumbprints were also taken.
The airport is so big that we took a Mono Rail just to get to our baggage, then we left for our hotel in a private car that my Mum had pre booked. We realised when we got outside the terminal that it was super hot.
We stayed for 3 days at the Hard Rock Hotel. We chose this hotel because of the pool which is amazing. www.hardrockhotelsingapore.com/
When we arrived we got taken to our room. As soon as we got inside we realised at this point that we had booked a deluxe room by mistake. It was huge with two rooms and an ensuite plus two giant TVs.
We also had a pretty good view.
On the second day I realiesed that in the pool below our room there were dolphins swimming and jumping so I watched them from our room.
Breakfast was included and you can eat as much as you want so I had heaps of fresh watermelon and pancakes. We had lunch one day sitting at a Bar inside the pool which was pretty funky.
We did quite a bit of walking and got really hot because it was about 28 degrees.
On our last day we moved to Chinatown because we wanted to stay in a hotel  as late as possible because our flight to Germany left at midnight. We ate soft shell crabs for lunch in a Japanese restaurant and it felt like revenge for all the nips we get from the crabs at the beach at home.
Walking back to the hotel after shopping at a Mall (where I got an awesome Mickey Mouse t-shirt) I saw a gold Lamborghini parked outside a flash hotel with its wheel clamped.
We went to the airport at 9 pm so we could cruise around the shops, eat dinner, and find our departure gate.At Customs we had to give our thumbprints again and we finally got on our plane to Germany at 10 to midnight. We were really tired but I wanted to watch a movie but I wasn't allowed until I had a sleep. So as soon as I woke up about 8 hours later I watched Kong Island and Power Rangers but by then it was time for breakfast and to get ready for landing in Frankfurt.

Why you should ski/board!

Why you should ski/board.

WALT: To write exposition.
Personal goal: To use paragraphs.

I strongly believe that after you have read my exposition about why you should ski and snowboard you will go up even more or start going up.

My fist reason is that it's great for your body and mind to be out and about with nature.
It might give you a better understanding in how the mountains are so great.

My second reason is that it is a really fun and exiting experience which you will never forget.
You can adventure around the world and there will always be some were else to ski or snowboard.
Plus you get to meet nice people injoying the same thing as you so they might be able to give you some tips.

My last reason is that with a bit of practice you could go heli skiing which is an amazing experience and site to see. It could also led to your future job.

So after reading this I think it's clear to see everyone should go skiing or snowboarding.

Bye Giorgio

No class captain

Walt: Write an exposition

I strongly belief that there should be no class captain at NBC.
I think that after you have read this then you will agree.

If someone didn't get  picked and they really wanted this opertunity they might feel left out and that not much people like them.
How would you feel if you lost the election by one vote.

My second reason is that if you got picked then there could become a lot of stress and pressure on you. I don't think having stress and pressure I going to help when you have to study and consintrate on your work.

My final reason is that what is the between a teacher and a class captain. There both telling you what to do and then you might get sick of having almost two teachers in the room. So there almost doing the same stuff.

So for these reasons I strongly believe that we should not have class captain and I am sure you agree.

Bye Giorgio
